Alpha Gabion wall is a mass gravity retaining wall made of stacked stone filled in the wire mesh cage.

Alpha Gabion wall can be used in many applications either for slope stabilization, hydraulic and erosion control, shoreline protection, rockfall or for architecture and landscaping purpose.

Alpha Gabion basket are available in a variety of different sizes. It comes in 0.5m and 1m height and 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m or 4m long. The size of stone used for Alpha Gabion basket infill varies from 110mm to 250mm.

Alpha Gabion is required to have the following physical features:

  • Hexagonal mesh pattern which under stress will deforms but will not break.
  • Double twist wire mesh makes the mesh unravelling.
  • Selvedge wire woven into at each corner as a reinforced wire to help Alpha Gabion to retain its shape during and after filling.
  • Diaphragm securely attached by a machine to the Alpha Gabion base at every 1m spacing to prevents the shifting of the stone and reinforced the Alpha Gabion wall.

Characteristic of the Alpha Gabion wall:

Permeable

Alpha Gabion structure allow water collecting at the rear to drain through without the aid of an expensive drainage system. Thus it prevent hydrostatic pressure at the back of the Alpha Gabion structure.

Flexible

Flexibility is the main benefit of the Alpha Gabion wall. Since the basket is made from mesh wire and filled up with stone, the flexibility of a Alpha Gabion structure allows it to withstand pressure without deforming, breaking or cracking as in the case of reinforced concrete wall and other materials.

Strength

The strength and flexibility of the Alpha Gabion wall allows it to withstand the natural forces of flood, torrential flow and earth pressure.

Durability

Alpha Gabion has a very high resistance to atmospheric corrosion due to the well bonded zinc coating and extruded process of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coating.

Ease of Installation

The Alpha Gabion basket is easy to erect on site and easy to be place at site location. The rapid of construction makes Alpha Gabion wall is preferable compare to the other wall system.
